Ford has announced a limited-edition F-150 that celebrates the Kansas City Royals’ World Series win.
The F-150 MVP edition was conceived by a Kansas City Royals fan, Marc Lassalle, who pitched the idea to the automaker. The offering is not unprecedented, as Ford built a Ranger MVP edition in 1985 to celebrate the Royals’ first world championship.
The 2016 model is based on the F-150 XLT with a chrome package, clad in either Oxford White or Blue Flame paint. Special MVP badging, unique polished-stainless rocker panels and a spray-in bedliner complete the customizations.
Appropriately, the F-150 MVP Edition will be built at Ford’s Kansas City Assembly plant. All customizations will be added at Kansas City’s SubTropolis underground business complex.
The truck will be promoted by former Royals star Bret Saberhagen, from the 1985 roster, and Salvador Pérez of the 2015 lineup. The first examples are already available at KC-area Ford dealers, with production limited to 300 examples.
