The company delivered 209,894 vehicles from January through November, representing an increase of 24 percent compared to the same period last year. The numbers have already surpassed 2014′s full-year total of around 190,000 units.
“With more than 200,000 Porsche models delivered, we have reached a milestone of our Strategy 2018 well ahead of schedule,” said Porsche sales and marketing chief Detlev von Platen.
The company delivered 18,110 cars in November, representing an increase of two percent compared to the same month last year. The Cayenne is said to be the biggest growth driver, with sales jumping by 39 percent and now accounting for more than a third of the brand’s entire volume.
The strongest single market this year has been China, where Porsche’s numbers are up by 34 percent. More than 54,000 Porsche vehicles have been purchased in the world’s largest automotive market this year, exceeding US sales that rose by just nine percent to nearly 48,000 units through November.
Despite the milestone achievement, Porsche’s slowed growth in November likely reflects parent Volkswagen Group’s emissions scandal. The diesel-powered Cayenne is among the vehicles currently affected by a sales halt, though its 3.0-liter TDI engine will require a simple software fix before the vehicles are put back on the market.
