The automaker’s design teams collaborated with the RV specialists to create designs influenced by the tow pickups, rather than merely slapping a Ford logo on existing trailers and slide-in campers.
Exterior customizations appear to be relatively modest, including unique windows and wheels inspired by F-Series pickups. On the inside, leathers and seat stitching have been modeled after the F-Series Lariat. The Blue Oval appears on the exterior and on seat cushions, further reinforcing the brand association.
Ford-styled slide-in truck campers will initially be available for six- and eight-foot beds, while the first travel trailers and toy haulers measure either 22 or 24 feet. The companies are also working on longer fifth-wheel trailers and shorter pop-up campers.
The line will be built in Indiana by Thor subsidiary Livin Lite. Campers will be the first to arrive in early 2016, ahead of the longer trailers in the second quarter. Pricing and other details have not yet been announced.
