McLaren shows P1 ‘stocking stuffer’ in 1:8 scale for $12K

Highlighting the P1′s recent production completion, McLaren has detailed a range of ‘stocking stuffers‘ to celebrate the flagship supercar.

The potential gift ideas start at 1:64 HotWheels die-cast scale models that start around £10 (~$15 USD). Children can also build their own Lego example in Volcano Yellow.

Scalextric worked with McLaren to create slot cars in various colors, including Volcano Orange. Maiston, meanwhile, crafted a 1:14 scale radio-controlled model, complete with illuminating headlights and taillights.

For the “big kids in the family,” an assortment of resin or die-cast models have been created by TSM, AutoArt, Minichamps and Tecnomodel. The 1:43 collectibles include Job#1, the XP2R prototype that set a sub-seven-minute Nurburgring lap, the camouflaged prototype that appeared in early teasers, and an Amethyst Black PP3 pre-production model.

Finally, for the “person who has everything,” including a full-size McLaren P1, the company commissioned a high-end 1:8 scale model from Amalgam. With a starting price around $12,000, the hand-made creations boast thousands of parts and claim to be consistent down to every detail including the creases seat fabric.

“The complexities of the build made up of so many individual components make them a true piece of art,” the company said in a statement. “Made to order, this is the ultimate present for the ultimate car in the McLaren Automotive family.”
