Paris preview: 2016 Ford C-Max

September 17, 2014
Ford has introduced the facelifted 2016 C-Max people-mover ahead of its public debut at next month’s Paris Motor Show.

Visually, the C-Max gets a sharper-looking front end that falls in line with Ford’s recent design language thanks to features like angular headlights and a hexagonal radiator grille with chromed horizontal slats. The back end gains smaller tail lamps and a revised hatch, while new alloy wheel designs and two new colors called Red Rush and Caribou, respectively, round out the visual updates.

The interior has been upgraded with a new center console that features fewer switches and controls for a cleaner, more straight-forward look. Additionally, Ford promises it has reduced noise, vibration and harshness by fitting thicker side windows and more absorbent seals around the tailgate and the rear-view mirror.

The facelift also brings new tech to the C-Max, including a Active Park Assist system that allows the van to park itself, Cross Traffic Alert, Park-Out Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control. Most C-Max models can be fitted with Ford’s SYNC 2 connectivity system.

Mechanically, the Euro-spec C-Max gains a new 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel engine rated at 120 horsepower. The 2.0-liter turbodiesel and the 1.0-liter Ecoboost three-cylinder mills carry on unchanged, though a fuel-saving start/stop system is available for the first time in the nameplate’s history.

The facelifted C-Max and the similarly-updated seven-seater Grand C-Max will go on sale shortly after debuting in the French capital. Pricing information will be published at a later date.

We’ve reached out to Ford to find out if the U.S.-spec C-Max will undergo the same updates. We’ll update this space as soon as we hear back.
