Audi’s A3 and S3 sedans have received a five-star overall crash rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The agency’s breakdown shows a four-star rating for frontal crash protection, with four-star injury avoidance for the driver and five stars for the passenger. The vehicle also received four stars for the rollover test, which found a 10.9-chance of rolling over in the government’s evasive-swerving scenario.

Side-crash protection received a five-star total rating, with top marks for both the front-seat driver and rear-seat passenger.
“Both vehicles establish a high safety standard with new and innovative features designed to help protect vehicle occupants as well as others on the road,” said Audi of America director of product planning, Filip Brabec.
The five-star government rating follows a Top Safety Pick Plus achievement from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, which found a low risk of injury in the challenging small-overlap test.
