Based on the regular-production Mark X 350S, the GRMN model stands out thanks to a more muscular-looking front bumper, black mirror caps, a discreet trunk-mounted spoiler crafted out of carbon fiber and a new rear bumper that incorporates an air diffuser as well as four exhaust pipes. Black 19-inch alloy wheels add a finishing touch to the sporty look.
Toyota promises the Mark X GRMN weighs noticeably less than a 350S thanks to roof panel that is made entirely out of carbon fiber.
The interior has been upgraded with carbon fiber trim on the dashboard and the center console, a meaty three-spoke steering wheel upholstered in Alcantara and bucket seats for the front passengers. The touch screen-based infotainment system has been tossed out in order to save weight.
Power for the Mark X GRMN comes from a stock 350S-sourced 3.5-liter V6 engine that sends 321 horsepower and 280 lb-ft. of torque to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission and a Torsen limited-slip differential. Performance specifications will be published in the weeks leading up to the car’s on-sale date.
Just 100 examples of the Toyota Mark X GRMN will be built. Each one will cost 5.4 million yen before options are factored in, a sum that converts to about $44,700 and represents twice the price of a base-model Mark X. The Mark X GRMN will land in Toyopet dealerships across Japan next March.
