Based on the stock Elise S, the Cup variant gains a host of aerodynamic add-ons like a front splitter with end winglets, new side skirts, a revised spoiler out back and an air diffuser integrated into the rear bumper. The aerodynamic components add 145 pounds of downforce at 100 mph and 275 pounds at 140 mph, the Elise S Cup’s top speed.
The Elise’ famously minimalist interior has been upgraded with a T45-spec roll hoop and model-specific sport seats embroidered with the S Cup logo. Electrical modifications facilitate the task of installing a fire extinguisher and a kill switch, two must-haves for owners looking to hit the track.
Lotus is keeping full technical details under wraps but it promises the S Cup’s engine generates 217 horsepower at 6,800 rpm and 184 lb-ft. of torque at 4,600 rpm, enough grunt to send the 2,050-pound Elise from zero to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds. Fuel economy checks in at 31 mpg in a mixed European cycle.
On sale now, the 2015 Lotus Elise S Cup carries a base price of £43,500 in the United Kingdom, a sum that converts to nearly $66,000. The S Cup will be available throughout Europe but Lotus is not currently planning on selling it in the United States.
