Ford confirms 450 hp for new F-150 Raptor

January 27, 2015
Ford has confirmed that its 2017 F-150 Raptor will bring an extra 39 horsepower over the current model.
The company introduced the new flagship pickup at the Detroit auto show, without disclosing specific performance figures. Development VP Raj Nair has now confirmed that it will boast 450 ponies, according to a Fox Sports interview spotted by Automobile.

The executive did not mention torque, though the revamped Raptor’s 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 will presumably bring more twist than the 434 lb-ft of the outgoing 6.2-liter V8 powerplant.

All of the extra power will be put to better use in the new pickup, which is 500 pounds lighter than its predecessor. It also features an all-new four-wheel-drive system and a 10-speed transmission.

The new Raptor is expected to arrive in showrooms by fall 2016.
