Shanghai-bound Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe concept leaked

April 18, 2015
Low-resolution images leaked by an Italian website have given us the best look yet at the Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe concept that will debut next Monday at the Shanghai Motor Show.
Already confirmed for production, the GLC Coupe will be to the upcoming GLC what the GLE Coupe is to the ML-replacing GLE. Aimed squarely at the BMW X4, the GLC Coupe adopts a familiar design with a tall radiator grille, twin power domes on the hood, bullet-shaped headlights and a deep front bumper.

The roofline peaks above the driver and aggressively slopes down towards the back of the crossover. The rear fascia gets thin vertical tail lamps similar to the ones found on the aforementioned GLE coupe and a deep bumper accented by two pairs of nearly vertical exhaust tips. The thin mirrors, the supercar-like exhaust outlets and the oversized alloys will not make the transition from concept to production.

Designed to replace the GLK-Class, the GLC will likely be introduced next fall at the Frankfurt Motor Show. We suspect the GLC Coupe concept that will bow next week in Shanghai will arrive as a regular-production model at next year’s Detroit Motor Show, meaning that it will land in showrooms in time for the 2017 model year.

Stay tuned, Mercedes’ newest concept will be fully unveiled online in a few days and we’ll be on location to bring you live shots straight from the show floor in Shanghai.
