Geneva Preview: 2015 Jaguar XFR-S SportBrake

February 25, 2014

Jaguar has unveiled the XFR-S SportBrake ahead of its debut at next week’s Geneva Motor Show. The wagon is the third member of Jaguar’s performance-focused R-S family.

Power for the XFR-S SportBrake comes from a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine that sends 542 horsepower and 502 lb-ft. of torque to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. The wagon reaches 60 mph from a stop in 4.6 seconds and goes on to an electronically-limited top speed of 186 mph.

Upgraded brakes on all four corners, a stiffer sport-tuned suspension setup and a re-calibrated active electronic differential help keep the extra power in check.

Visually, the XFR-S SportBrake gains aerodynamic updates similar to the ones found on its four-door sibling. The wagon features a deeper front bumper with oversized air intakes, side skirts, a roof-mounted spoiler and a rear air diffuser crafted out of carbon fiber. 20-inch alloy wheels mounted on Pirelli tires wrap up the exterior updates.

Interior pictures are not available but Jaguar says the cockpit is upgraded with dark aluminum trim, carbon leather and ventilated sport seats for the front passengers. The wagon offers 59.1 cubic feet of trunk space with the second row of seats folded flat.

The Jaguar XFR-S SportBrake will go on sale in the United Kingdom next April as a limited-edition model with a base price of £82,495, a lofty figure that converts to roughly $138,000. The hot-rodded wagon will fight head-to-head against the Audi RS6 Avant and the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG.

Although Jaguar has not officially announced whethe or not the XFR-S SportBrake will be offered in the United States, sales are unlikely because the XF wagon is not available on these shores.
