Frankfurt preview: 2014 Alfa Romeo Giulietta

September 2, 2013
Fiat-owned Alfa Romeo has detailed the facelited version of the Giulietta five-door hatchback ahead of its official debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show next week. Launched across Europe in 2010, the Giulietta shares showroom space with the three-door MiTo but it is almost single-handedly keeping Alfa’s head above the water.

The exterior modifications are minor and largely limited to a new grille, redrawn headlights and more aggressive bumpers on both ends. A new set of alloy wheel designs and additional paint colors help differentiate the revised model from its predecessor.

The biggest changes are found inside, where the Giulietta gains a thoroughly refreshed dashboard that boasts more colorful trim, a more modern center console and a 5.5-inch touch screen that runs a market-specific version of Chrysler’s Uconnect infotainment system. The hatchback also features an updated steering wheel with a center portion that is shaped like an Alfa grille.

Alfa is not making any major modifications under the hood so the Giulietta carries on with a host of gasoline- and diesel-burning four-cylinder engines that send power to the front wheels.

Following its debut in Germany, the hatchback will go on sale in Europe before the end of the year.<![CDATA[
