Looking to show off the customization and limousine market potential of its upcoming Transit full-size van, Ford has teamed up with Galpin Auto Sports to create the luxurious Transit Skyliner Concept.
Slated to debut at next week’s New York show, the van’s cabin has been fitted with a compliment of private jet-like “throne” seats that can be reconfigured – at the touch of a tablet screen, no less – into four different arrangements.
For cinephiles, Theater Mode flips all the seats around to face a 52-inch movie screen, then reclines them for optimal viewing and comfort. When things get more serious, Business Mode unfolds a table and repositions the seats for conversation and negotiation.
Reception Mode slides the rear doors open and arranges the seats for easy entertaining – perfect for hanging out in the parking lot before a concert or sports event. Finally, Travel Mode simply lets passengers adjust their seats as desired during road trips.
As if all that weren’t enough, the Transit Skyliner Concept’s interior also includes a built-in bar, satellite TV and a surround-sound system with custom speakers.
Providing motivation for the show van, which is outwardly distinguished by special silver metallic paint and Forgiato wheels, is the production Transit’s twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter “EcoBoost” V6.
Don’t forget check back next week for Leftlane’s live coverage of the Transit Skyliner Concept and the rest of the New York show.
