The teaser video suggests the GTI Vision Gran Turismo concept is similar to the Design Vision GTI show car that was presented at last year’s edition of the Wörthersee show in Austria. It features a lengthened wheelbase, a noticeably lowered roof line, aggressive fender flares and beefy bumpers on both ends. A black paint job with red accents give the concept a sinister, blacked-out look.
The car will feature a track-oriented cockpit with bucket seats and a screen in lieu of a traditional instrument cluster. Numerous carbon fiber trim pieces are expected to complete the race-bred look.
The Design Vision GTI packed over 500 horsepower from a 3.0-liter TSI V6 engine. Virtual technical details about the Vision Gran Turismo concept are not available, but we wouldn’t be surprised if the hatchback packs a similar amount of power while weighing significantly less than a stock GTI.
Full details about Volkswagen’s latest concept will emerge on May 23rd, and gamers will likely be able to download the car shortly after. Like other similar concepts from Mercedes-Benz and BMW, the Vision Gran Turismo will remain a virtual show car that will never see the light that awaits at the end of an assembly line.
