Aston Martin to expand Gaydon factory

May 28, 2014
As part of its revitalization plan, Aston Martin has announced that it is updating its manufacturing facility in Gaydon, Warwickshire, with a £20 million ($33.5 million) investment.

Aston Martin will use that money to build a new chassis and pilot build facility, add more office space and expand the factory’s parts and logistics storage area. The expansion will add another 10,000 square meters to the Gaydon facility. The project is expected to be completed sometime next year.

“I am very happy to be able to execute another part of our manufacturing strategy by extending our already highly-efficient facility,” Keith Stanton, Aston Martin Manufacturing Operations Director, said. “The improvements at Gaydon are a big step forward, and the development will enable us to streamline and finesse our manufacturing processes which, in turn, will allow us to be leaner and even more competitive.”

Aston Martin will also hire about 250 new workers as part of the expansion plan.

Aston Martin’s updated facility will produce a new line of sports car built on an all-new platform. Those vehicles will utilize bespoke V8 engines developed by Mercedes-Benz’s AMG division.
