Introduced in 2009, the 6 gets a sharper look thanks to revised headlights, an updated radiator grille with a larger MG emblem and a new front bumper. Although the pictures depict the five-door GT-badged variant of the 6, the four-door 6 Magnette will likely be fitted with the same front end.
The modifications carried out to the rear of the 6 are minor and largely limited to new-look tail lamps and a re-drawn bumper. A host of new alloy wheel designs will round out the mid-cycle refresh.
MG is not making any mechanical modifications, meaning the 6 will carry on with a 1.8-liter four-cylinder that makes 133 horsepower when it’s naturally aspirated and 160 ponies when it is fitted with a turbocharger. In the United Kingdom, the sedan is offered with a 1.9-liter turbodiesel mill that sends 148 horsepower and 258 lb-ft. of twist to the front wheels via a six-speed manual transmission.
Built in China, the updated MG MG6 will be formally introduced next September at the Chengdu Motor Show and it will go on sale in select global markets including China and the UK before the end of the year.
