Lexus Japan has released the NX F Sport Modellista, a factory-backed body kit for the new compact crossover.
Though styling for the NX has been controversial, the NX F Sport is arguably the better looking of the two, thanks to its more aggressive grille, chin spoiler and wheels. If a little is good, more must be better, right?
The Modellista version ratchets the F Sport’s styling cues up a notch, with a front spoiler finished in chrome. The bi-level design takes away some of the visual heft created by the polarizing spindle grille. Similarly, side skirts contoured to the NX’s flamboyant angular surfacing feature slivers of brightwork that hide some of its tallness in profile.
Out back, two rear valances are available, one with quad tailpipe finishers and one that simply hides them behind trapezoidal mesh grilles. 19-inch 10-spoke chrome wheels wrapped in 245/45-19 Yokohamas fill in the wheel wells. There are no plans to offer Modellista parts in the US.
Regardless of what one might think of the NX F Sport Modellista’s new look, it has to be assumed that it will look better than the upcoming limited edition NX designed in collaboration with pop star will.i.am. The Black Eyed Peas frontman has been widely ridiculed for past efforts. His NX “interpretation” is called Striking Angles, whose teaser video can be seen below.
