Canadian Audi dealership takes customer’s S4 on weekend-long "test" drive

A Canadian Audi dealership is in some hot water after it was revealed that one of its service technicians took home a customer’s S4 sports sedan for the weekend.

The surprising revelation occurred after Calgary-resident Chris Jackson took his S4 into Glenmore Audi for a new windshield and a navigation system fix. Jackson dropped off the S4 without issue, but the trouble began the next day when he returned to the dealership to retrieve a forgotten item in his car.

Jackson circled the lot three times but couldn’t find his car. When he asked the dealer where it was parked, he was told, “It’s OK, just go home, your car’s fine, it’s probably just somewhere on the lot. We can’t find it.”

Jackson scoured the dealership a few more times for his S4, but again came up empty handed. He then headed inside for another talk with the dealer.

“So I went back in and the dealer said again, ‘You just need to go home.’ And I said, ‘No, no, I need to find my car. I need to know where my car is,’” he recounted to CBC News.

Fed up with the two-and-a-half hour ordeal, Jackson called the police to report his vehicle stolen. At that point the dealer “started calling their mechanics, and finally one of the mechanics answered and said that, ‘Yeah I have the car at home.’ And he’d taken the car home for the weekend,” Jackson said.

Glenmore Audi defended the mechanic’s actions, saying he needed the car for the weekend to test its faulty navigations system. During his “testing” period, the mechanic put over 300 miles on Jackson’s car.

Audi Canada is now involved in the matter and working to address Jackson’s seemingly legitimate complaint.
