The model will likely take inspiration from the Lotus Elise and Alfa-Romeo 4C, with a folding roof and extensive use of carbon fiber, keeping the curb weight below 1,900 pounds, according to CAR Magazine.
Perhaps not coincidentally, Dallara worked on early development of the 4C convertible. Fiat is expected to return the favor by supplying a 2.0-liter turbocharged powerplant for the unnamed model, delivering around 300 horsepower.
The company is best known as a chassis builder for a wide range of racing series, such as IndyCar and Formula Three. Its engineers and designers also worked with KTM to help create the X-Bow.
Additional details surrounding the road-going Dallara will be announced closer to launch. The company is said to be aiming for 2017 availability, likely with a price tag around 80,000 euros (~$107,000 USD) and production limited to just 100 units annually.
