ESPN reported on Thursday that Gordon, who is suspended for the entire 2014 NFL season for violating the league’s drug policy, has accepted a position with Ohio-based Sarchione Auto Group. Sarchione owns both Ford and Chevrolet franchises, according to the company’s Web site.
It was originally thought that Gordon might actually get some sales experience on the showroom floor, but Lupe Vargas, a spokesman for the pass catcher, says that won’t be the case. Instead, Gordon will lead Sarchione’s local community efforts.
Gordon is slated to start his new gig this weekend while his teammates battle the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The car sales business wasn’t Gordon’s first choice of work, but rules barred him from joining the Canadian Football League while on suspension from the NFL.
Although not related to his current day job, the experience should pay off for Gordon in the long run. The star athlete reportedly has aspiration to own his own car dealerships once his NFL career is over.
