Spotted last month testing at the Nurburgring, the Elise S Cup attempts to stay as true as possible to the Cup R without requiring a trailer to get back and forth from the track.
It will be powered by the same 1.8-liter supercharged four-cylinder engine, producing 217 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque, though the added safety gear brings the curb weight over 2,000 pounds. Despite the weight gain, it is said to be capable of sprinting to 60 mph in just 4.2 seconds with a 140-mph top speed.
Body styling is also nearly identical to the S Cup R, with plenty of carbon fiber and aerodynamic components to increase downforce.
The Elise S Cup is set to be formally unveiled later this year at the Paris Auto Show, before arriving in the European market for 47,500 euros (~$61,500 USD). It is unlikely to make its way across the pond, however.
