Designed by Holden Special Vehicles (HSV), the GTS Maloo is powered by a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine that makes 576 horsepower and 545 lb-ft. of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a limited-slip differential and either a standard six-speed manual transmission or an optional six-speed automatic unit.
Holden is keeping performance figures under wraps until the GTS Maloo is formally unveiled but it has revealed six-piston brake calipers and two-piece rotors all around keep the cavalry in check. Additionally, the GTS Maloo is the first Ute to offer a torque vectoring system.
Visually, the Maloo stands out from a stock Ute thanks to a more aggressive model-specific front fascia characterized by a deep bumper with large air dams and a two-part radiator grille. The look continues out back with four round exhaust tips integrated into the bumper, while 20-inch alloy wheel add a finishing touch to the sporty look.
Holden has not published interior pictures. The company promises the list of standard features includes sport seats, aluminum pedals, a model-specific instrument cluster, a heads-up display, a lane departure warning system, forward collision alert and rain-sensing wipers.
Holden will build just 250 numbered examples of the GTS Maloo – 240 for Australia, and ten for New Zealand. Pricing information will be published closer to the truck’s on sale date.
