The second-gen S-Max retains roughly the same silhouette as the outgoing model but it stands out thanks to a sharper design that falls in line with Ford’s latest design language. The front fascia is characterized by elongated angular headlights, a trapezoidal radiator grille with five chromed horizontal slats and a rippled hood, while the rear end gains horizontal tail lamps.
Inside, the S-Max offers space for seven passengers and their gear. The lone interior picture available reveals Ford’s latest people-mover gets a three-spoke multi-function steering wheel, a digital instrument cluster and a large color touch screen on the center stack.
Ford has opted not to publish technical details about the S-Max. Rumors indicate it will be offered with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel engine available with either 118, 148 or 177 horsepower, a 1.5-liter gas-burning EcoBoost engine rated at 158 horsepower and a 2.0-liter EcoBoost that churns out 237 ponies. Most engines will be offered with either a six-speed manual or a dual-clutch gearbox, and all-wheel drive will be available at an extra cost.
Full details about the 2015 Ford S-Max will be published in the days leading up to its public debut. At the time of writing Ford is not planning on selling the S-Max in the United States.
