Toyota has unveiled a special edition of the 2015 Tundra, a branded tie-in with outdoor lifestyle retailer Bass Pro Shops. The new truck will only be sold in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma and Texas.
Did you know Toyota USA has an entirely separate distribution channel for the Gulf states? Well they do, thanks in part to Carroll Shelby, who campaigned the Toyota 2000GT in the late 1960s. Shelby, of Cobra and Mustang fame, clued fellow racer Tom Freidkin in on the franchise action and the rest is history.
Now Gulf States Toyota Distributors has its own supply of Lone Star State-built pickups, unveiled at the Texas State Fair this week. The Toyota Tundra Bass Pro Shops Off-Road Edition takes a 2015 CrewMax 4×4 in SR5 trim and adds a host of appearance upgrades.
The most striking difference from the regular Tundra is a massive set of fender flares over all four arches. Beneath them are a set of 20-inch milled-matte black wheels wrapped in off-road tires.
Additional external touches include five-inch oval step tubes, stainless steel exhaust tips, and the bed comes pre-sprayed with liner. Naturally, Bass Pro Shops gets their logo plastered throughout. You can have it in any color you want, as long as it’s silver, and the starting price rings in at $43,975. All customers will receive a $1,000 Bass Pro gift card as well, for all their camping and hunting needs.
