Silverado Z71 Volunteer Firefighter concept
The first of the two concept was built with input from National Volunteer Fire Council. As such, the truck is decked out with everything a volunteer firefighter might need on the job.
Based on the Silverado Double Cab equipped with the Z71 Off Road suspension, the Volunteer Firefighter concept is fitted with several add-on accessories, some of which are available from the Chevrolet catalog. Some of the truck’s enhancements include 22-inch wheels, an emergency roof light bar, red and silver paint scheme with custom graphics, hood protector and a brush guard.
The interior of the truck has been outfitted with 3M reflective bolster material and Torch Red stitching.
Power for the concept is provided by Chevy’s 355 horsepower 5.3L V8 backed by a six-speed automatic transmission.
“We wanted to pay tribute to these important men and women in communities everywhere,” said Chris Perry, vice president of Chevrolet marketing. “They are the kind of hard-working Americans for whom we design and build the Silverado, making sure it delivers the capability and dependability they expect.”
Silverado Black Ops concept
If you need one truck that can take on just about anything, the Silverado Black Ops is your ride. Equipped with things like lower body armor, a lockable Truck Vault storage unit, a solar power pack, gas masks, military First Aid Kit and a folding shovel, the Black Ops is designed to combat any disaster scenario.
“Luck favors the prepared and the Silverado Black Ops concept is a survival kit on four wheels,” said Chevrolet design manager Dave Ross. “This concept truck showcases the stronger, smarter and more capable elements of the 2014 Silverado and how accessories can enhance them to suit any lifestyle.”
Based on the Silverado Crew Cab 4×4, the concept sports a decidedly sinister look thanks to a raised suspension, fender flares, 18-inch off-road wheels and a unique black and yellow color scheme.
It doesn’t appear as if Chevrolet has any plans to put either concept into regular production, but both trucks could be closely replicated with Chevy’s parts catalog.
