SEMA LIVE: Chevrolet unveils five concepts

November 5, 2014
Chevrolet has introduced five performance concepts based on their existing lineup ahead at the SEMA show that is currently taking place in Las Vegas, Nevada. Two are based on the Sonic subcompact, one on the compact Cruze, one on the full-sized Impala and one on the SS Sport Sedan.
The Sonic Performance concept, shown here in Synergy Green, is exactly what it sounds like–a hopped-up, sport-oriented package designed to extract the most possible power and handling potential from Chevy’s subcompact. Power upgrades include a Chevrolet Performance Stage kit, a cold-air intake and a high-flow exhaust, though no final horsepower figure has been given. The suspension has been beefed up and the ride height lowered for improved response and 17-inch Chevrolet Accessory wheels have been fitted. The concept also shows off some cosmetic enhancements both inside and out.

The Sonic Accessories concept focuses more on aesthetic enhancements. The Summit White exterior with a matte black stripe anchors this personalization showcase. Equipped with some of the same accessories as the Performance concept, but adds a custom grille surround and skips the full, track-tuned suspension in favor of a less complicated lowering kit.

Based on Chevy’s flagship sport sedan, the SS Sport concept is shown here in Some Like it Red Hot featuring body-color door handles and mirrors. The Sport shows off several interior and exterior accessory options, including a grille kit, hood and deck lid stripes, high-gloss wheels, Holden-branded wheel caps, sport pedals and other trim pieces from the Chevrolet Accessories catalog.

On the tamer side of things is the Impala Blackout. The black-on-black concept calls on just a few Chevrolet Accessories items mixed with production paint and interior options. Only the black grille surround, rear spoiler, painted mirror caps and 19-inch aluminum wheels set the Impala apart from its showroom siblings.

The final concept is the Cruze RS Plus. Shown here in custom Wildfire Metallic (orange), the RS Plus enjoys many of the same performance and cosmetic enhancements featured on the Sonic concepts. The lower body moldings and rear spoiler are unique, while the twin matte stripes are Chevrolet Accessories options. The interior features ambient lighting upgrades and illuminated door sills. Under the hood is a Chevrolet Performance Stage kit and a prototype cold-air intake system, similar to those found on the Sonic Performance concept.
