Although Rolls-Royce has never placed a heavy emphasis on all-out performance, it appears as though a hot-rodded version of the Wraith coupe coupe could be under development. Our spies just spotted a Wraith prototype roaming the streets of German with added spoilers clearly visible at the front and the rear of the vehicle.
Such a performance model would put the Wraith on even ground with vehicles like the Bentley Continental Speed.
Although not typical, Rolls-Royce has produced “performance” vehicles before. In January of this year Rolls introduced a V-Specification of its Ghost sedan that included 30 extra horsepower compared to regular production model. The Ghost is essentially a four-door version of the Wraith coupe.
We’d expect a similar bump from the Wraith V-Spec, which would net about 650 horsepower from its twin-turbocharged V12. A stiffer suspension probably isn’t in the cards, but a few visual tweaks would make sense.
No word on when we might see the more powerful Wraith, but Rolls-Royce could choose to unveil the car at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.
