Subaru reveals limited-edition Forester tS for Japan

November 26, 2014
Subaru has finally revealed its Forester tS, a special-edition model that will likely be limited to the Japanese market.
The STI-badged package features a more aggressive front fascia with vertical LED strips and a red accent around the grill. A rear spoiler, 19-inch BBS alloy wheels and Brembo brake calipers help complete the look.

On the inside, the package gains a bevy of STI upgrades including a leather-wrapped steering wheel, black leather and suede upholstery and a new shift lever, among other upgrades. Red accents and red stitching provide contrast against the otherwise-black theme.

The Forester tS’ 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine produces 276 horsepower — 26 ponies higher than the US-spec model — and 258 lb-ft of torque, delivered to all four wheels via a CVT automatic.

The company’s STI team retuned the suspension, adding reinforcement and dropping the ride height by 15mm, while the transmission control and vehicle dynamics control have been tweaked for spirited driving.

Subaru only plans to build 300 examples of the Forester tS, with prices starting at the equivalent of approximately $37,000.
