Maserati has reaffirmed its commitment to launch the Alfieri coupe by 2016, followed by a convertible variant.
“While we don’t expect it to be a big seller we do expect it to anchor all values that are core to Maserati, and have a halo effect in drawing customers to us,” the company’s UK marketing director, James Cowan, told Autocar.

The Italian luxury marque has set an ambitious sales goal of 75,000 units by 2018, when both the hardtop and open-air editions will be available on the market.
“It will be as desirable as a Jaguar F-Type or Porsche 911 but considerably more exclusive, and as a result special,” Cowan promised.
The entry-level Alfieri will be powered by a V6 engine that sends 410 horsepower to the rear wheels, while upgraded models are expected to provide between 450 and 520 ponies via all-wheel drive.
Prices are expected to start just around $95,000, but the company has not announced specific details or a launch date.
