Audi to achieve 2M annual sales ahead of 2020 target

January 31, 2015
Audi is reportedly on track to achieve its goal of two million annual sales well ahead of its 2020 target.
The company shipped 1.74 million vehicles in 2014, up 11 percent over the previous year. Chief executive Rupert Stadler has voiced confidence that the sales momentum will continue, despite concerns over growth in China and Europe.

“The new year has started out dynamically, with good momentum from 2014,” he told Reuters in an interview.

If the company will need to post global sales gains of at least nine percent in 2015 and 2016 to reach its two-million goal four years ahead of schedule. A five-percent annual gain will be sufficient to hit the mark by 2017.

The executive expects refreshes of the A4 sedan, Q7 SUV and R8 sports car to help bolster sales this year. Looking forward, the Q1 will be added to the lineup next year ahead of the flagship Q8.
