Brand chief Johan de Nysschen previously rejected calls for the company to discount its lineup to better compete with the Germans. The strategy is reflected in the ATS-V base prices, set at $61,460 for the sedan and $63,660 for the coupe. Perhaps not coincidentally, both are exactly $540 below the equivalent BMW M3 and M4 price tags.
Both body styles are powered by the Cadillac Twin Turbo six-cylinder engine, producing 455 horsepower and 445 lb-ft of torque — slightly more than the M3/M4, though final curb-weight figures have not yet been announced. Drivers can expect to get to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds before topping out at 189 mph.
Other sport-focused upgrades include Brembo brakes, magnetic ride control, improved chassis control and traction management, tri-compound tires and a carbon-fiber hood, among other features.
“The V-Series is the ultimate expression of Cadillac’s re-ignited product substance and the passion at the core of our brand,” said de Nysschen.
The ATS-V’s larger, more powerful cousin, the 2016 CTS-V, is scheduled to arrive in showrooms this summer.
