Billed as the fastest Octavia ever built, the RS 230 is powered by a Volkswagen Golf GTI-sourced 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes 230 horsepower, a modest ten-pony increase over the standard Octavia RS. The turbo four shifts through a seven-speed dual-clutch DSG transmission controlled by shift paddles.
The extra power helps the sedan reach 62 mph from a stop in 6.7 seconds and go on to an electronically-limited top speed of 155 mph. The Octavia RS 230 further stands out as the first Škoda to come with an electronically-controlled locking differential.
Škoda has not revealed if it has made suspension and brake modifications to the sedan.
Drivetrain aside, the RS 230 is nearly identical to the standard Octavia RS save for minor upgrades like a larger rear spoiler and model-specific emblems. The story is the same on the inside, where the biggest upgrade is expected to be a numbered plaque on the dashboard.
After greeting the show-going public in Geneva alongside the brand new Superb, the 2015 Škoda Octavia RS 230 will land in showrooms across Europe next June. Pricing information and availability will be announced in the weeks leading up to its on-sale date.
