Toyota Auris preview hints at production Scion iM

February 25, 2015
Toyota has previewed its new Euro-spec Auris, due to be unveiled in Geneva alongside the facelifted Avensis.
The company has published images of the Auris Hatchback and its stretched counterpart, the Touring Sports wagon. The hatchback hints at the US-bound Auris, which will be sold as the Scion iM.

The revamped Auris has been toned down compared to the Scion iM concept that was revealed last year in Los Angeles, though it does feature a sportier front end with a wider lower grille that encompasses the fog lights. The upper grille has also been redesigned with more chrome that flows between smaller headlights.

Toyota has not announced full details, aside from promising a new gasoline and diesel engine lineup. The Hybrid edition will serve as the focal point, after becoming the most popular Auris package in 2014.

The production iM will likely arrive with a more aggressive body kit, consistent with the concept. Pronounced air intakes, lowered ride height and larger wheels are also expected, with upgraded brakes and suspension components.

The iM will later be joined by a new sedan in the Scion family, representing the first new models in the struggling brand’s ongoing transformation. The sedan concept will make its first appearance alongside the production iM in New York.
