Lexus LF-SA concept leaked ahead of Geneva debut

March 1, 2015
A leak has prematurely revealed the Lexus LF-SA concept ahead of its debut at next week’s Geneva Motor Show.
Smaller than any Lexus to date, the LF-SA takes the form of a subcompact hatchback that falls in line with the company’s latest design language thanks to styling cues like an oversized spindle grille and boomerang-shaped LED daytime running lights.

The resemblance with Lexus’ current models fades past the B-pillar and the concept features heavily sculpted flanks and futuristic-looking two-tone doors. Out back, the muscular look is underlined by a roof-mounted spoiler, sharp LED headlights and a small air diffuser.

The LF-SA boasts a futuristic cockpit with a chiseled dashboard, a four-spoke steering wheel, a heads-up display and a tall driver-oriented center console with an integrated touch pad. Like the smart fortwo and the now-defunct Scion iQ, the LF-SA can only carry two passengers.

Technical specifications were not leaked. However, the concept does not appear to have an exhaust pipe so it could be powered by an electric drivetrain.

Full details about the Lexus LF-SA concept will emerge over the weekend.

What’s next?
Company insiders have previously hinted that the LF-SA concept loosely previews an upcoming entry-level model. If built, the hatchback could ride on the brand new front-wheel drive platform that is being developed jointly by BMW and Toyota to underpin the upcoming MINI Minor.
