Jeep has released images ahead of the Geneva Motor Show showing a new concept variation of its Renegade compact crossover.
Called the Hard Steel (not to be confused with Blue Steel), the cute ute is based on the Trailhawk trim level and has been modified by Mopar with a slew of custom touches. Most obviously, the exterior is composed of a bare brushed metal finish contrasted by matte black trim bits such as a grille, mirror covers and running boards.
The eye-catching DeLorean-esque exterior is paired with off-road accoutrements like bespoke 16-inch alloys, chunky-tread BF Goodrich All-Terrains, and a slightly lifted suspension. Interior-wise, the Fiat 500X stable-mate features a unique upholstery and matching brushed metal accents around its vents, gear selector, and speakers.
Hard Steel’s also been outfitted with a tow bar, attached to which is a two-wheeled trailer made from the hindquarters of another Jeep Renegade. Its sole, somewhat inefficient purpose appears to be housing a large TV screen linked to Jeep’s new Connect Live infotainment system, which will soon debut on the Renegade and will give drivers access to news, streaming radio, real-time traffic and social networking apps.
