Ford Focus RS to arrive with 345 hp?

March 18, 2015
Several of Ford’s official websites for overseas markets suggest the Focus RS may arrive with 345 horsepower.
The latest appearance surfaced on Ford’s Spain site and was spotted by Spanish outlet Motor.es, making a clear reference to power output for the upcoming RS-badged Focus.

The company has not yet confirmed official output specs for the 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine in the new high-performance hatchback, instead maintaining a vague promise of more than 315 horsepower.

The official figure closely resembles the output specs for the new Mustang, which produces 310 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque from the same engine. The turbocharged mill provides slightly more output than the base 3.7-liter V6, but still significantly below the 435-horsepower GT edition outfitted with a V8 engine.

The previous leak, posted on Ford’s Ireland website and spotted by Autoguide, was dismissed as inaccurate by Ford spokesman Aaron Miller.

“We are still in the testing phases, but we are guaranteeing it will at least be over 315 hp,” he said. “Our final numbers will come closer to launch.”
