Lyons Motor Car previews NY-bound LM2 Streamliner

March 25, 2015
American startup Lyons Motor Car has announced it will travel to next week’s New York Motor Show to introduce a futuristic-looking supercar called LM2 Streamliner.
The LM2 Streamliner is powered by a twin-turbocharged 8.2-liter V8 engine tuned to make 1,700 horsepower at 9,000 rpm and 1,610 lb-ft. of torque at 4,000 rpm. Power is sent to all four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, allowing the Streamliner to reach 62 mph from a stop in less than 2.2 seconds. The engine’s origins were not revealed.

The LM2 is equipped with Brembo-built carbon ceramic brakes and an adjustable suspension setup that offers two modes called Luxury and Sport, respectively. Selecting Sport mode lowers the ride height, stiffens the suspension and makes the car noticeably louder by activating an electronic exhaust cut out.

The coupe stretches 182.6 inches long, 83.5 inches wide and 43.5 inches tall, dimensions that make it a few inches longer and wider than the defunct Bugatti Veyron. It tips the scale at 3,100 pounds thanks in part to body panels and a chassis crafted entirely out of carbon fiber.

What the future holds for Lyons Motor Car’s LM2 Streamliner is up in the air. The company promises that it will outline its plans for the next few years next week in New York.
