Known as the “Wei Lang” in China, the redesigned sedan was inspired by the futuristic Riviera concept, presented in 2013, and the more recent Avenir concept that was unveiled earlier this year in Detroit.
The darkened image reveals modernized taillights, a redesigned trunk lid similar to that of the Regal, and pronounced swage lines that emerge behind the headlights and flow around the rear.
Both the Excelle GT and the new Verano are said to have been designed specifically with China in mind. Buick has consistently proved a top seller in the world’s largest automotive market, outselling GM’s Chevrolet brand.
“The Verano demonstrates Buick’s insight into the aesthetic preferences of Chinese consumers,” the company notes. “It embodies the innovative reimagining of Buick’s classic design elements, exemplifying the elegance and dynamism of Buick’s new-generation products.”
Full details will be announced at a media event on April 19.
