Nissan expands Leaf free-charging program to Boston

July 6, 2015

Nissan has expanded its “No Charge to Charge” EV incentive program to include the Boston area.
The initiative provides two years of free public charging with the purchase of a new Leaf from any local dealer. The promotion includes access to fast chargers that can fill an empty battery to 80 percent capacity in approximately 30 minutes.

No Charge to Charge is currently available in 17 US markets, ranging from San Francisco and Los Angeles to Houston, Denver and Washington DC. The company promises to expand to more than 25 markets by the end of the year.

Buyers of the next-generation Leaf might get much less use out of the public charging network. The current model provides a modest range of 84 miles, however rumors suggest the company is working on a battery upgrade that will extend to 185 miles.

Nissan claims the current model is the best-selling electric car in the world, with 180,000 collective global sales and 80,000 units delivered in the US market so far. The next-generation model is expected to arrive next year for the 2017 model year, though Nissan has not publicly confirmed any final details.
