Morgan Motors introduces limited-edition AR P4

July 25, 2015
Morgan Motors has traveled to this year’s edition of the Silverstone Classic to introduce a limited-edition model dubbed AR P4. The roadster was developed to celebrate the Plus 4′s 65th anniversary.

A Ford-sourced, Cosworth-tuned 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine is found under the AR P4′s long hood. It delivers 225 horsepower, roughly 75 more than the stock Plus 4, and it is bolted to a manual transmission that spins the rear wheels. Performance statistics have not been published yet, but the 1,984-pound roadster is expected to be capable of reaching 62 mph from a stop in less than seven seconds.

To complement the extra power, Morgan tuner AR Motorsport has added new brakes all around, a revised suspension system with adjustable shock absorbers and a new rear axle with a more sport-focused ratio.

Visually, the commemorative model stands out from the Plus 4 thanks to LED lighting all around, clear turn signals up front, model-specific decals on both sides and black alloys in lieu of the standard model’s wire wheels. The interior has been spruced up with a more ergonomic dashboard, a three-spoke steering wheel and additional sound-deadening material.

The AR P4 was designed as a daily driver, and Morgan promises it is the most comfortable and user-friendly Plus 4 built over the last six decades.

Just 50 examples of the Morgan AR P4 will be hand-built in Malvern, England. Each one will cost £54,995, a sum that converts to roughly $85,300.
