Rolls-Royce teases Dawn ahead of official debut

September 3, 2015
Rolls-Royce has released a few teaser images for its forthcoming Dawn convertible, scheduled to be revealed next week.

The close-up shots, first published by Autoblog, do not reveal much about the new model, though many details have already surfaced in official hints, leaks and spy photographs.

Paying homage to the Silver Dawn of the 1950s, the new model appears to be a Wraith-based Drophead that will serve as a newcomer to the Ghost family. Spy shots show a soft top with a more traditional coupe-like profile, in contrast to the fastback silhouette of the larger Phantom Drophead Coupe.

Reports suggest the convertible will be outfitted with unique bodywork to distinguish it from both the hardtop Wraith and the Ghost sedan. The ultra-luxurious interior is also expected to be modestly reworked.

The Dawn will likely be powered by the Wraith’s twin-turbocharged 6.6-liter V12, delivering 624 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

Full details will be revealed on September 8, ahead of the Frankfurt Motor Show.
