Nissan has issued a relatively small recall for the 2015 Armada to fix a problem with the seatbelt system.
Both the front driver and passenger seatbelt latches are prone to malfunction, sometimes failing to latch and other times causing problems when attempting to unlatch after the release button is pressed. The defect makes the SUV non-compliant with federal safety guidelines.
“A seat belt that does not properly latch would not restrain a user, increasing their risk of injury in the event of a crash,” the recall documents warn. “A seat belt that does not properly unlatch when the release button is pressed may prevent the occupant from quickly exiting the vehicle in a emergency, such as after a crash, increasing their risk of injury.”
Service technicians have been instructed to inspect both front seatbelt buckle assemblies and replace them as necessary. New parts are expected to be widely available by early October for the 1,554 vehicles affected by the campaign.
