Land Rover teases 2017 Range Rover Evoque Convertible

October 2, 2015

Land Rover is previewing the upcoming 2017 Range Rover Evoque Convertible by displaying six full-size wireframe sculptures all around London, England.

The sculptures were placed to give the public an idea of what the topless Evoque will look like in posh urban centers, its natural habitat. They’re on display in strategically-chosen locations such as outside the Harrods department store, in the Knightsbridge neighborhood and in Mayfair.

Designed in-house by Land Rover, the sculptures are surprisingly realistic. They hint that the Convertible will be nearly identical to the regular Evoque Coupe from the rocker panels up to the belt line. Above that, it is expected to get a power-retractable cloth soft top, a setup chosen because it’s lighter, more compact and less complicated to build than a folding hard top.

The six sculptures will soon leave the British capital and embark on an extensive world tour that will end next month when Land Rover officially introduces the Range Rover Evoque Convertible. More precise details — such as when and where the launch will take place — aren’t available yet, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see it in the metal for the first time at this year’s Los Angeles Motor Show.

Regardless of when it debuts, the Evoque Convertible will go on sale next year as a 2017 model. When it lands, it will be the lone player in the topless crossover segment.
