Suzuki will release a new compact minivan concept at the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show later this month.
Though proportioned like a kei car, the Suzuki Air Triser Concept isn’t one. That doesn’t mean it’s not small, though. Its 165-inch length is just 3 inches longer than a Toyota Yaris. Finished in a two-tone ivory white and red body, it looks both retro and futuristic at the same time.
Styling features include dual panoramic sunroofs, slim LED headlamps and taillights, and prominent trapezoidal graphics mirrored on a vertical axis that just happens to be the opening of its suicide sliding doors. Opening in opposite directions, it creates a pillar-less pass-through space into a highly configurable three-row cabin.
Front seatbacks can be folded flat to form a bench, while the middle row folds down and connects with the third row to form a lounge-type seat. Moreover, the center row can be shuffled so that all seats form a C-shaped couch. The floor appears to be comprised of hardwood planks, waterfalling from the firewall and beneath the third row.
Under the hood is a 1.4-liter engine with electric motor assist mated to a 5-speed automatic and electric AWD system.
The Tokyo Motor Show begins October 28.
