Hyundai has revealed a 1,000 horsepower version of its Genesis Coupe at the 2013 SEMA Show in Las Vegas.
In order to generate that kind of power – which rivals that of the Buagtti Veyron – Hyundai partnered with Bisimoto Engineering. Bisimoto has made a name for itself in the automotive world by creating reliable engines with eye-popping performance figures.
Hyundai’s 1,000 horsepower monster started out life as a naturally-aspirated Genesis Coupe 3.8 R-Spec. Bisimoto retained the car’s 3.8L V6 block, but installed all-new internals plus two turbochargers.
Hyundai claims the show car retains the reliability of a street car, despite have 1,000 ponies on tap.
“The key to producing reliable, high-horsepower engines goes well beyond the design, engineering and fabrication of performance parts. The core powerplant must be strong enough to withstand advanced modifications. The Genesis Coupe 3.8-liter Lambda engine is a thoroughly robust powerplant, and Bisimoto Engineering is excited to develop it to its full potential for the rigors of competitive motorsport,” said Bisi Ezerioha, owner of Bisimoto Engineering.
In addition to the engine modifications, the SEMA car has also been fitted with a roll cage, coilover suspension and racing seats.
