Rumor has it that a production version of the Lexus LF-LC show car will be unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show in January.
The new Lexus flagship would slot above the RC series, with rear wheels rumored to be fed by either a hybrid V6 setup or the 467-horsepower 5.0-liter V8 that powers the RC F and GS F, via an all-new 10-speed automatic transmission developed by Aisin. The names are presumed to be LC 500h and LC 500, respectively.
The show will be sort of a homecoming for the high-performance 2+2 coupe, as the original LF-LC concept was unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show in January 2012. Designed at Toyota’s CALTY studio in Newport Beach, the red hot stunner received unanimous and high praise from the public. In fact, the concept was so popular that Lexus built a second one in Opal Blue so they could be in two places at once on world auto show circuits.
Furthermore, word has it that 2018 will bring an “F” version, which will introduce a forced induction V8 with twin electric turbochargers good for 600-plus horsepower.
The Detroit Auto Show begins January 11, 2016.
