Embarking July 9 at Georgia’s Road Atlanta circuit, the biennial cross-country journey will eventually conclude with a jamboree at the Thermal Club members-only racetrack near Palm Springs, California.
The journey will not take a direct route, of course, but rather a circuitous path that includes several South Atlantic waypoints before traversing to the Midwest via Pittsburgh. Participants will then head for the Straits of Mackinac before beginning a zig-zag hop southwest toward Las Vegas and finally to the California desert by July 22-23.
Now in its 10th year, the event is said to attract thousands of MINI owners from across the country. The 2014 route crossed 5,142 miles in a true coast-to-coast fashion, starting in San Francisco and ending at Boston Harbor.
“Along the way we made a friendly invasion of Canada, took in a professional baseball game and motored the Million Dollar Highway,” the company said of the 2014 rally. “Over the 5,000 mile trek, you learned that west Texas isn’t brown, it’s green, and a Rocky Mountain thunderstorm is truly an awesome sight.”
The per-person registration fees start at $40 for a single city, including the evening arrival and next-day sendoff at one location. The $75 multi-city ticket covers the entire route, or as many waypoints as the participant can attend.
Registration will begin in March.
