Appropriately called XV Hybrid STI Concept, the first show car is a sportier version of the XV Hybrid tuned by STI. Subaru won’t reveal the concept until halfway through next month, but it promises the XV Hybrid benefits from a white paint job with orange accents and a two-tone orange and beige cabin spruced up with sport seats for the front passengers. STI has made comprehensive suspension modifications to improve the ride, but whether the gasoline-electric drivetrain has been tweaked is anyone’s guess at this point.
The second concept is based on the Levorg (pictured), which is essentially an Impreza station wagon that’s sold in a host of markets around the globe including Europe, Japan, and Australia. Called — you guessed it — Levorg STI Concept, it gains a redesigned front fascia, a WR Blue Pearl paint job, and specific 18-inch alloy wheels. The cabin boasts a burgundy and black two-tone interior with accessories that Subaru boldly qualifies as “exclusive.”
Since the Levorg is based on the Impreza, it’s reasonable to speculate the STI Concept is powered by the same turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine as the WRX STI. The flat-four makes 305 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 290 lb-ft. of torque at 4,000 rpm in its most basic state of tune.
We’ll find out more about Subaru’s newest concepts — including what the future holds for them — in the next few weeks.
