Chevy’s blacked-out ‘Midnight’ pickups return for 2016

February 10, 2016

General Motors has confirmed plans to bring back its Midnight Special Edition for Chevrolet’s 2016 Silverado 1500 and Colorado.

The packages feature blacked-out front ends with a body-color grille, bumper, headlamp bezels, tow hooks and fog lamps. Black moldings and beltlines carry the theme across the sides, while black Chevy bowties on the front and rear. Black alloy wheels finish the look.

The Midnight editions are available with the Z71 trim, which features upgraded suspension and a locking rear differential.

The company suggests its growing portfolio of special-edition trucks has contributed to Chevrolet’s 27-percent increase in pickup sales last year.

“The Silverado 1500 Midnight was by far the most popular model in 2015, as demand outstripped supply in a matter of months,” said Chevy truck marketing director Sandor Piszar.

Other unique packages include the Silverado Realtree and Special Ops and Colorado Trail Boss. Additional special-edition packages are promised to be announced later in the year.
