Kia has announced pricing details for the new Sportage, elevating its base price for the 2017 model year.
The crossover now carries a starting MSRP of $23,885 (including $895 freight), representing an increase of $1,090 over the third generation.
The base model carries over a 2.4-liter engine with 184 horsepower, delivered via a six-speed automatic transmission. It also offers standard LED daytime running lights, 17-inch alloy wheels and a five-inch infotainment system, among other features.
The fourth-generation Sportage has been completely redesigned inside and out. A wide Tiger Nose grille centers the redesigned front fascia, while the wheelbase has been stretched by 30 mm.
Buyers can step up to the Sportage SX Turbo for $33,395, adding a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine with 240 horsepower. The flagship build also features larger front brakes, sport-tuned suspension, 19-inch wheels, bi-Xenon bending headlights and a wide range of visual enhancements.
“In 2015, the final year of production for the outgoing Sportage model, sales were up 25 percent, which speaks to the appeal and staying power of that vehicle, and with our aggressive pricing strategy for the all-new 2017 model, we’re looking to continue that momentum,” said KMA COO Michael Sprague.
